Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Tour Due to Medical Emergency

Queens of the Stone Age have declared that they are canceling all their July tour engagements among a lot of disappointed fans.

A statement on the band’s social media platforms revealed that lead singer Josh Homme “must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery.” The specific details of his health issue remain undisclosed, with the band expressing that “every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”

This cancellation impacts a series of eight scheduled European performances and festival gigs, starting July 10 in Vitrolles, France, and ending July 27 in Athens. The band’s official site indicates that Queens of the Stone Age’s forthcoming tour date is set for August 24 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Their most recent performance was this past Saturday in Milan, Italy. This followed a cancellation at the AMA Music Festival the night before, attributed to an unspecified illness.

On July 2, Homme announced that QOTSA would be the first band to perform in the Catacombs of Paris, slated for “a week’s time or so.” No specific date was provided, and there have been no updates on whether this event occurred. Queens of the Stone Age are on tour promoting In Times New Roman…, their first album since 2017’s Villains. Before this album’s release, Homme disclosed his 2022 cancer diagnosis and subsequent successful surgical removal.

While all of the fans are disappointed, we all wish Josh a safe and speedy recovery and that Queens of the Stone Age will be back to 100% soon.
