Jake Owen and Dirty Heads Bring the Heat to Pinellas Park

Jake Owen and the Dirty Heads touring together? On paper, it might sound like a curious mix — country meets reggae-rock? Definitely not your everyday tour lineup. But from the moment the music started, it was clear this combination worked way better than anyone might’ve expected. As The Dirty Heads’ frontman joked mid-set, “Jake plays fun music, we play fun music — so we should play fun music together.” Hard to argue with that logic. They stopped by Pinellas Park to perform the last show on their mini Florida tour at England Brothers Park.

With The Wailers opening the night, the crowd was already vibing before the main acts even hit the stage. As the sun sank behind the stage and the evening air cooled, The Wailers brought the heat, diving into timeless Bob Marley favorites that wrapped the audience in feel-good energy. Their rhythm flowed through England Brothers Park like a gentle wave — smooth, nostalgic, and impossible not to sway to.

Jake Owen Brings the Coastal Energy

Jake Owen was next up, launching into his set with “Down to the Honkey Tonk” before gliding through “The One That Got Away” and “Anywhere with You”. If that trio doesn’t scream beach-town perfection, nothing does. But Owen didn’t stick to the script — he mixed in covers from George Strait, The Cadillac Three, and Florida’s own Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Owen worked England Brothers Park like a veteran showman, tossing beer cans, drumsticks, and guitar picks into the crowd with that signature charisma. Midway through the set, he dialed it back with a tender version of “I Was Made For You,” performed while seated in front of his keyboardist. The crowd hung onto every note. Then, just as quickly, he reignited the party with “American Country Love Song” and his ultimate crowd-pleaser, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” His new song and album title, “Dreams to Dream,” sounded amazing live so be sure to check it out on November 7th!

The Dirty Heads Deliver the Knockout

Then it was go-time for The Dirty Heads — and they came in swinging. The opening bass drop didn’t just shake the seats; it felt like it might trigger a few car alarms downtown. Their set was a masterclass in genre fusion — reggae grooves, hip-hop flows, and rock swagger all rolled into one seamless sound. Wrapped in fog and bathed in neon light, the band often appeared as silhouettes, but their energy filled every corner of the venue.

They tore through fan favorites like “Bum Bum,” “Medusa,” and “Lay Me Down,” keeping the pit bouncing from start to finish. When they jumped into their electrifying cover of Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good,” the entire crowd erupted in a massive singalong that nearly drowned out the band. By the time the final notes rang out, the amphitheater was a smoky, euphoric blur — fog from the stage mingling with the unmistakable scent of good times shared.

A Perfectly Unlikely Combination

What started as an odd pairing ended up being pure magic. Jake Owen brought the heart. The Dirty Heads brought the heat. And The Wailers set the perfect vibe to kick it all off. Together, they turned England Brothers Park into a genre-blending, high-energy beach party where country met reggae and everyone walked away smiling — ears buzzing, spirits lifted, and a little bit of sand still stuck between their toes.
