The legendary rocker, Tom Petty, has passed away at his home residence in Malibu at the age of 66. The singer went into cardiac arrest and eventually passed at a nearby hospital after being taken off of life support. Petty was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious and in full cardiac arrest at his Malibu home; he was taken to the UCLA Santa Monica hospital, where he was taken off life support after it was confirmed that he had no brain activity.
Tom Petty’s manager Tony Dimitriades released a statement that read: “On behalf of the Tom Petty family, we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”
