Linkin Park has officially revealed their return, complete with a fresh album and upcoming tour. The band has also brought on Dead Sara’s vocalist Emily Armstrong as their new co-lead singer, and introduced the single, “The Emptiness Machine.” Armstrong faces the challenging role of stepping in for the late Chester Bennington, joining long-time members Mike Shinoda (co-lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist), Joe Hahn (turntablist), Brad Delson (guitar), and Phoenix (bass). In addition, Colin Brittain has been brought on as the new drummer, with original drummer Rob Bourdon not participating in the reunion.
The “From Zero” tour will span six dates, starting on September 11th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Additional stops include Brooklyn, New York; Hamburg, Germany; London, England; Seoul, South Korea; and a final performance on November 11th in Bogota, Colombia.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting this Saturday (September 7th) via Ticketmaster, with early access sales beginning on Friday. The new album, From Zero, is set to drop on November 15th and will consist of 11 tracks. To mark the announcement, the band is hosting a livestream performance.
Speculation about a reunion has been building throughout the year, with whispers in the spring about Linkin Park potentially seeking a female lead vocalist. In recent weeks, the band has been teasing a major reveal, though last week’s countdown clock ultimately led to no new information. Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley even had to address rumors, issuing a statement to dispel claims that he would be taking over as Linkin Park’s new singer.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Mike Shinoda shared,
“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title speaks to that modest beginning and the journey we’re now on. Sonically and emotionally, it captures the past, present, and future—honoring our iconic sound, while feeling new and vibrant. It was created with immense gratitude for our new and old bandmates, friends, family, and our fans. We’re incredibly proud of how Linkin Park has evolved and excited for what’s next.”
Linkin Park has been off the road since the tragic death of Bennington in July 2017. The band did host a tribute concert later that year but has remained inactive in the years since. But now they are back, in a BIG way!
